On a slight incline take off the hand brake (parkingbrake) and then reapply it. When it is applied it the car should not move. If you have to pull it up more firmly, then it is near the end of its working travel and needs adjusting or replacing.

If the steering becomes heavy then it may be faulty. Before starting a journey, with the engine started, the steering should feel light and easy to turn.

Information will be found using the car manufacturer's manual. Check the tyre pressures by using a reliable pressure gauge when the tyres are cold. Don't forget the spare and remember to refit the valve caps.
How would you check the tyres to show their general condition is safe and legal to use on the road.
Tyres will have no cuts or bulges. The tread depth should be at least 1.6mm across the central 3/4s of the width of the tyre and around the entire circumference.
How would you make sure your head rest is correctly adjusted so it provides the best protection in the event of a crash.
The head rest should be adjusted so the rigid part of the head rest is at least as high as the eye or top of the ears, and as close to the back of the head as is comfortable. To adjust it there is a button to press at the side.
How would you check that the brakes are working before starting a journey.
The brake pedal should not feel slack, you should feel pressure pushing back as you push it down. As you move off check the brakes, the car should not pull to one side.
How would you know if there was a problem with your anti lock braking system.
A warning light should light up on the dash if there is a fault with the anti lock braking system.

For the front windows set all relevant controls including fan and air direction, press the button to clear the rear heated window.

Identify the coolant tank and check the minimum and maximum markings. To top it up, if it is low, unscrew the cap and fill to the required level. Make sure the engine is cold before removing the cap.
